New Features in IEEE Xplore

IEEE Xplore has introduced, amongst others, two new features as of April 2011:

  • The IEEE Standards Dictionary Online; and
  • The Complete List of Citations of Journal Article Abstracts (including other publishers).

The IEEE Standards Dictionary Online

The IEEE Standards Dictionary is a comprehensive database of standards terminology which provides access to over 39,000 standards terms and is fully integrated into the IEEE Xplore interface.  This dictionary can be accessed in three ways:

a. From your search results

Perform a search and you will find, on the right-hand side, a box containing relevant terms:

When you click on a term, the dictionary will provide all definitions of that term:

b. From the abstract page

Once you have accessed the abstract page, the standard dictionary terms are available directly on that page:

Citations by Other Publishers

The IEEE Xplore journal article abstract has always displayed a list of other IEEE documents that have cited the article. Since April 2011, a list of all articles that have cited the document from any publisher participating in CrossRef’s Cited-By Linking program will also be included. This information will be added for all IEEE journal articles and goes as far back as 1929.

EBSCOhost now available on your iPad/iPhone

Ebscohost has just announced the launch of its iPad/iPhone application.  To install, please follow the steps outlined below.  Both Sections A and B below must be completed.

A. From a web browser on your computer or on your iPhone/iPad:

  1. Connect to the Ebscohost Mobile interface by clicking here : Ebscohost Mobile.
  2. Click the “Select/Deselect All” check box and click on “Continue”.
  3. Click the link “EBSCOhost iPhone/iPod Touch Application”.
  4. Enter your e-mail address.  This must be the e-mail that you have configured in your iPhone/iPad. In order for the Ebscohost authentication to work correctly, you must be able to click the links they provide in an e-mail from the “Mail” application on your iPhone/iPad.  It will not work if you open your e-mail in a web browser!

B. From your iPhone/iPad:

  1. Open the e-mail sent to you by Ebscohost using your iPhone/iPad “Mail” application and click the first link to install the application.
  2. Once the application is installed, click the second link in the e-mail. This will authenticate your installation with Ebscohost and allow you to have the same access as if you had connected to Ebscohost via the findit.lu portal.

EbscoHost – Problem with full text indicators

There is currently a known problem with the full text indicators provided by the bnu portal for some Ebscohost journals.  You may receive an indication that full text is available from 2011.  This is incorrect.  Ebscohost has provided incorrect information to our service provider and thus, the full text indicator dates are wrong.

Trial: bX Recommendation Service

Consortium Luxembourg is currently trialling a new service, the bX Recommendation Service, within its electronic documentation portal, Portail bnu. This service provides recommendations based upon the articles and journals that you access, a bit like Amazon’s “Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought…” service.

To try out the bX Recommendation Service, please follow the steps provided within the attached guide : bX Quick Guide. The service will be available until the end of May 2011.

Nouvel outil Legitech: calculez les intérêts échus

Legitech annonce la mise en ligne d’une nouvelle fonctionnalité accessible uniquement aux abonnés de bases de données Legitax, Legiwork et Legicorp.

Il s’agit d’une calculatrice qui offre la possibilité de calculer:

1. le montant total d’une somme redue avec les intérêts légaux (tels que publiés au Mémorial) ou contractuels échus et
2. l’indexation d’une pension alimentaire.

Les différentes options proposées permettent d’envisager une multitude de cas de figure (paiements fractionnés et acomptes, variations de taux…) afin d’obtenir un calcul rapide et correct.

La calculatrice vous produit un rapport détaillé du calcul effectué: finis les calculs fastidieux et les risques d’erreurs.

La calculatrice est disponible dans le menu dès que vous êtes connecté sur le site de Legicorp, Legitax ou Legiwork.
 

Deutschsprachige internationale Bibliographien von DeGruyter

Wussten sie schon? Über das Portal des “Consortium Luxembourg” haben sie Zugang (auch von zuhause) auf mehrere wichtige internationale deutschsprachige bibliographische Datenbanken des Verlags DeGruyter:

  • Internationale Bibliographie der Rezensionen (IBR) : Die IBR umfasst ca. 1,2 Mio. Nachweise von Rezensionen aus den Jahren 1985ff. Sie weist interdisziplinäre, internationale, vornehmlich die Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften berücksichtigende Rezensionen aus 6.820 wissenschaftlichen Zeitschriften zu 560.000 rezensierten Werken nach. Die Datenbank wird monatlich aktualisiert, wobei der jährliche Zuwachs ca. 50.000 Eintragungen beträgt. Die Einträge sind mit deutschen und englischen Schlagworten erschlossen. Damit können Rezensionen in den unterschiedlichsten Sprachen gefunden werden.
  • Internationale Bibliographie der Zeitschriftenliteratur (IBZ): Die Bibliographie IBZ ist seit über 100 Jahren das führende internationale Nachschlagewerk für Zeitschriftenaufsätze der Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften und angrenzender Fachgebiete. Das Themenspektrum der erfassten Zeitschriften ist fachübergreifend: Publikationen aus 40 Ländern in mehr als 40 Sprachen sind berücksichtigt.  Die IBZ Online weist derzeit über 3.2 Millionen Zeitschriftenaufsätze aus 11.500 Zeitschriften der Jahre 1983ff nach. Jährlich kommen über 120.000 Eintragungen hinzu. Die Datenbank wird regelmäßig aktualisiert.
  • Internationale Jahresbibliographie der Festschriften (IJBF): Gerade in den geistes- und sozialwissenschaftlichen Disziplinen sind Festschriften ein beliebtes wissenschaftliches Forum. Mit der IJBF werden diese wertvollen wissenschaftlichen Ressourcen der Öffentlichkeit schnell zugänglich gemacht. Mit über 1.000 neuen Festschriften pro Jahr ist die IJBF die einzige regelmäßig erscheinende wirklich internationale Festschriftenbibliographie. Die IJBF online enthält über 20.000 Festschriften mit 240.000 verschlagworteten Beiträgen und ca. 609.500 Beiträgen insgesamt. Der Berichtszeitraum umfasst die Jahre 1986ff. Die Einträge in der IJBF werden von Wissenschaftsredakteuren durch ein Schlagwortsystem erschlossen und aufbereitet. Damit sind in den Festschriften veröffentlichte Beiträge zu einem bestimmten Thema schnell und problemlos aufzufinden.
  • Internationale Jahresbibliographie der Kongressberichte (IJBK): Die Datenbank IJBK verzeichnet über 989.700 Inhaltsverzeichnisse von mehr als 33.100 – vornehmlich europäischen – Kongressberichten. Der Berichtszeitraum umfasst die Jahre 1984 ff. Die Artikel sind in deutsch und englisch sachlich erschlossen. Der jährliche Zuwachs der Datenbank beträgt ca. 2.000 Kongressberichte. Neben den Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften sind schwerpunktmäßig auch andere wissenschaftliche Fachgebiete berücksichtigt, wie z.B. Mathematik und Naturwissenschaften.

Kindler Literatur Lexikon im Testzugang bis 12. Mai

Die neue, 3. Edition des Kindler Literatur Lexikons ist ab sofort als Testzugang verfügbar.

Bis zum 12. Mai kann der Testzugang benutzt werden und je nach Ausgang der laufenden Verhandlungen über ein Konsortialangebot wird dieses Lexikon regulär ins Angebot übernommen werden.

Kindlers Literatur Lexikon ist ein weltweit einmaliges, wissenschaftlich fundiertes Werklexikon und die umfangreichste deutschsprachige Darstellung der internationalen Literatur: In mehr als 21.500 Artikeln werden 13.000 Werke aus allen Literaturen der Welt anschaulich erläutert. In der völlig überarbeiteten Neuauflage umfasst Kindlers Literatur Lexikon fast 15.000 Druckseiten in 18 Bänden. Der digitale Kindler bei Munzinger wird sechsmal jährlich aktualisiert und erweitert.
