Episode 10: What information do I need to find an article and how do I search for it?

In the course of your research, you may come across an article which you would like to find via the portal. This last episode looks at what information you need to find an article and how you do it.

First of all, the more information you have about the article the better. The following is a complete list of information that will help you to easily locate the article:

• Journal Title – as exactly as possible including words like “the” and “journal”.
• ISSN – a standardized international code which allows the identification of any journal publication, including electronic journals.
• Date – the date of publication. At a minimum, at least the year in which the article was published.
• Volume and Issue – the volume and issue (if any) in which the article was published.
• Start Page and End Page – the start page and end page of the article. These two pieces of information are not so important.
• Article Title – as exactly as possible in order to have a precise search.
• Author – at least their last name.
• DOI – The Digital Object Identifier (DOI) System is used to identify content objects in a digital environment. DOI names are assigned to any entity for use on digital networks and are used to provide current information, including where they (or information about them) can be found on the Internet.

Au cours de votre recherche, vous tomberez probablement sur un article que vous souhaiterez trouver par le biais du portail.

Cette dernière leçon vous explique de quelles informations vous avez besoin pour trouver un article et comment s’y prendre.

En premier lieu, c’est évident que plus vous avez des informations sur l’article, mieux c’est. Voici une liste complète des informations qui vous aideront à trouver facilement l’article :

• Titre périodique – aussi exact que possible, y compris les mots comme « périodique » et « de ».
• ISSN – un code international standardisé qui permet l’identification de n’importe quelle publication de périodique, y compris des périodiques électroniques.
• Date – la date de publication. Au moins l’année de publication de l’article.
• Volume et numéro – le volume et éventuellement le numéro du périodique dans lequel l’article a été publié.
• Page début et page fin– Page de début et de fin de l’article. Ces deux informations ne sont pas si importantes.
• Titre de l’article – aussi exact que possible, afin de réaliser une recherche exacte.
• Auteur – au moins son nom de famille.
• DOI – correspond au système « Digital Object Identifier ». Il sert à identifier des objets de contenu dans un environnement numérique. Les noms DOI sont assignés à n’importe quelle entité pour son utilisation sur des réseaux numériques. Ils permettent de recueillir des informations actuelles, y compris celles qui peuvent être trouvées sur internet.
