Ebrary ebooks platform migration to Ebook Central
From July 13th the ebooks available on the ebrary platform will be migrated to the new ProQuest Ebook Central platform.
There might be some access issues during 12th July.
- If you previously created an account on the ebrary system, you will be notified by mail for further actions.
- If you do not have an account in the Ebrary system, you can create your Ebook Central user account here.
An Ebook Central user account is only needed in case you want to download an entire ebook, create personal lists or add personal comments to ebooks.
Please note that the Library card user account is different from Ebook Central account.
Special Software needed:
- To download an entire book you need Adobe Digital Editions.
- To download to iOS and Android devices, you need Bluefire Reader, which is free from the App Store and Google Play. You need to create a free Adobe ID to use Bluefire Reader.

Testzugang “Enzyklopädie der Neuzeit” Online
Im Rahmen eines Test-Zugangs bis 19. Juli haben Leser der Uni-Bibliothek sowie der Nationalbibliothek nun Zugriff auf die “Enzyklopädie der Neuzeit” Online.
Die Enzyklopädie der Neuzeit bietet 400 Jahre Geschichte in einem Werk. Wissenschaftler aus der ganzen Welt führen die Erkenntnisse über das bedeutsame Zeitalter von der Mitte des 15. bis zur Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts zusammen. Die Perspektive ist europäisch. Das bedeutet jedoch nicht, dass die Sicht auf den Rest der Welt versperrt ist. Im Gegenteil, die facettenreiche Wechselbeziehung von europäischen und anderen Kulturen wurde ausführlich betrachtet.
Die Enzyklopädie liefert aktuelle Antworten auf die Kernfragen:
- Welche Ideen, Erfindungen und Ereignisse veränderten das Leben der Menschen?
- In welcher Weise veränderten sich die Lebensbedingungen?
- Wie greifen politische, gesellschaftliche und ökonomische Entwicklungen ineinander?
- Welche großen kulturellen Strömungen kristallisieren sich heraus?
- Wie wandelte sich die Deutung historischer Ereignisse?
Wie in einem Netz von roten Fäden werden die einzelnen Artikel miteinander verbunden. Der Leser, der den Fäden folgt, wird immer wieder auf neue und unerwartete Zusammenhänge und Verknüpfungen stoßen.
Die Enzyklopädie der Neuzeit Online basiert auf der gedruckten Ausgabe Enzyklopädie der Neuzeit (J.B. Metzler Verlag Stuttgart, 2005-2012).
Aus lizenztechnischen Gründen ist die Enzyklopädie zur Zeit leider nur in den Gebäuden / im Netzwerk der Universität (alle Campusse) sowie der Nationalbibliothek zugänglich.

InCites (Web of Science) – Trial
Consortium Luxembourg is offering trial access to InCites, a research analytics platform produced by Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters). Web of Science, EndNote and Journal Citation Reports are other resources from Clarivate Analytics.
Trial access to InCites will end 14 July 2017.
InCites is based on publication/citation data from Web of Science and allows for in-depth analysis of trends and benchmarking for individuals, groups, organizations, countries and research areas.
Other features include:
- Identify collaborators and subject matter experts
- Promote areas of strength and specializations
- Demonstrate results and impact

Consortium Luxembourg is offering trial access to the full collection of Karger journals until 5 July 2017.
Connecting the World of Biomedical Science
Karger’s journal program comprises over 80 subscription-based journals and about 20 Open Access journals, covering all disciplines of human medicine and related sciences. Over 50% of Karger journals focus on basic and clinical research; another 17% are clinical research oriented. Many of their publications were founded at the time of modern medical specialization and even today continue to serve as a forum for the latest developments and findings of basic and clinical research.
The oldest Karger journal, for example, was first published in 1893 under the German title Dermatologische Zeitschrift and greatly influenced the information exchange in the field of dermatology.

Nomos eLibrary – Willkommen in der Wissenschaft.
Im April 2017 steht allen Nutzern der Uni-Bibliothek, Nationalbibliothek sowie dem LIST und LIH ein Test-Zugriff auf sämtliche Inhalte der Nomos eLibrary zur Verfügung.
Mit der Nomos eLibrary bietet der Verlag einen komfortablen Zugang zu Verlagsinhalten aus den Bereichen Recht, Politik, Wirtschaft, Medienwissenschaft & Kommunikationsforschung, Geschichte, Soziologie, Bildungsforschung, Kulturwissenschaft, Europa, Gesundheitswissenschaft, Philosophie und Religion.
Das Portal enthält derzeit 5255 Monographien, 2024 Sammelbände, 1713 Zeitschriftenhefte, 51 Handbücher, 142 Lehrbücher.
Alle verfügbaren Zeitschriften und Bücher sind während der Zeit des Testzugangs auch in a-z.lu indexiert, so dass Printausgabe und Online-Version gleichzeitig im Katalog gefunden werden:

As you may know, all findit.lu users have access to nearly all Nature publications: http://www.nature.com.proxy.bnl.lu/siteindex/index.html
Accidentally, our access to was cut off. Due to technical problems we don’t have access to full texts from Nature journals at the moment. Everything is prepared for our access to be reactivated, but it may take until next week (8 or 9 march) until access will work correctly again.
